Festival International du Livre Gabonais et des Arts - FiligaFILIGA, the Gabon International Book and Arts Festival (Festival International du Livre Gabonais et des Arts), is a cultural initiative by the collective of writers belonging to the Union of Gabonese Writers (UDEG). Its primary goal is to celebrate culture and position books and arts as vehicles for intellectual emancipation among the youth. This major cultural project brings together Gabonese and international writers, authors, editors, slam poets, dancers, painters, literary promoters, and illustrators from countries like Guinea, Canada, France, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Mali, Benin, the DRC, Chad, Congo, Senegal, and Burkina Faso. Together, they explore the artistic and literary richness of Gabon. The festival's inaugural edition took place in May 2022 at the National Museum of Arts, Rites, and Traditions of Gabon. It serves as a platform for writers and artists to exchange ideas, showcase their talents, and foster cross-cultural connections. FILIGA aims to ignite a passion for literature and the arts while encouraging the youth to engage with these transformative mediums for intellectual growth. Through FILIGA, the Gabonese literary and artistic landscape is illuminated, providing a space for creative minds to shine. As participants from diverse backgrounds come together, the festival becomes a melting pot of ideas and inspiration, contributing to the promotion of culture, literature, and art on both local and global levels. |
